Evolution Gear Mishap Delays National Tour

Lancair International announced that its Evolution Turbine Serial Number 0001, which was on a sales tour in Northeast Georgia, experienced a gear-up landing after the pilot executed a go-around due to traffic congestion at an uncontrolled airport, KWDR. Lancair company pilot Bob Jeffrey was at the controls at the time, and the incident resulted in minor composite damage to the rudder and tail cone. The damage is expected to be fully repaired in 3 to 5 days, at which time the tour will resume.

The Lancair support team is responding with all required materials, parts and technical assistance needed to get the Evolution airborne. The demonstration tour will end with the Evolution’s appearance at Oshkosh AirVenture in late July. It will be joined at the show by its sister aircraft, the Evolution Lycoming IE2 Piston, which will be making its public debut there.
