Mini-Max 1550V V-MAXMini-Max USA, now based in Box Elder, South Dakota, has taken the reins of the iconic Mini-Max aircraft line. With kit production continuing in Niles, Michigan, the new leadership is working to modernize the brand while preserving its nearly 40-year legacy.

First introduced in 1984, Mini-Max aircraft have earned a reputation for being affordable, lightweight, and straightforward to build with many built and flying around the world.

Mini-Max USA’s goal is to keep that spirit alive while updating the experience for today’s builders.

New at Mini-Max

The relaunched website, www.flyminimax.com, includes a full-featured store where builders can purchase digital plans, full kits, mini kits, replacement parts, and accessories.

Kit production is being refreshed with upgraded packaging, better documentation, and tighter quality control. Precut parts will soon be available to speed up the build process while keeping it simple and accessible.

Support

The Niles, Michigan, facility isn’t just handling production—it’s now also a hub for builder support and hands-on assistance. For builders starting fresh or who need help mid-build, help is available.

Two additional support and production facilities are in the works to expand Mini-Max USA’s reach and improve fulfillment times for builders across the country.

Mini-Max USA is compiling a list of available aircraft and unfinished projects for sale, helping prospective owners connect with ready-to-fly or in-progress Mini-Max planes and ensuring that existing aircraft remain in the air for years to come.

“Mini-Max has always been about giving people the tools and confidence to build something incredible,” said Jessica, co-owner of Mini-Max USA. “We’re focused on honoring what made these airplanes special, while giving builders better support, faster kits, and a stronger sense of community.”

All the original models remain available, from the MAX-103 ultralight that meets Part 103 regulations to the 1700R Hi-MAX. Legacy models and plans are still supported as well.
