Radiant Technology, the instrumentation companyfocused oncreating advanced avionics systems with the smallest possible designs, has announced the release of its new SafeGyro, a compact, directional instrument developed for experimental and light sport aircraft.
The SafeGyro features a directional display showcasing heading digits, a heading bug, compass tape, turn coordination, and a motion-history map. Radiant says the goal is to help pilots understand what the aircraft is doing rather than just report raw numbers. The new instrument is USB-rechargeable and can be used as a portable or panel-mounted instrument depending on situation and preference.
For those seeking increased performance on longer operations, an external magnetometer version will be available for purchase. Units are expected to ship in August with pricing starting at $494.95 for base units and $644.95 for the magnetometer-equipped version. Introductory prices will extend through July 31, after which they will increase by $100 for any respective units purchased after that date.
The SafeGyro also includes an automobile mode that allows the instrument to be used outside the cockpit, mainly for demonstration and first-use purposes.
The product is a part of Radiant’s Mini Glass line of instruments, which look to give pilots more operational freedom by reducing weight and space taken up by more traditional panel options.
