Liking a challenge, the out-going Ted Myers of Myers Aviation in Fulton, Missouri is finishing a Murphy Renegade kit into a mini-Waco look-a-like.
The Renegade build was started 20 years ago but stalled as these things do. Now new owner Andre Renier has contracted Ted to help via his Myers Aviation builder assist shop. Major players in giving the Renegade a styling upgrade are a move to a Verner radial (you couldn’t swing an old spar without hitting a Verner at AirVenture this year), along with a bunch of stringers to fill out the fuselage lines.
An interesting tidbit from Verner dealer Ted was Verner is working on an 11-cylinder Scarlet engine. Estimated to deliver 200 hp the engine is supposed to hit the market in mid-2024.
