gruppo trailLone Palm Aero announced that the Groppo Trail LSA is now available in the United States. Designed by respected Italian engineer Nando Groppo, the tandem-seat Trail is very popular throughout Europe, with more than 110 aircraft sold so far. Experimental Light Sport (ELSA) and Experimental/Amateur-Built (E/A-B) kits start at $28,250. The ready-to-fly Special Light Sport (SLSA) Trail, usable by instructors for training and rental, is available for $79,900.

The Trail is a rugged, high-wing design that can be configured as a taildragger or with tricycle gear. Powered by a 100-hp Rotax 912 ULS engine, cruise speeds are in the 100 to 115 mph range. Stall speed is 35 mph with full flaps, allowing the Trail to get into and out of short fields

The airframe is aluminum stressed-skin construction with a welded chrome-moly cockpit cage. The tough single-piece aluminum landing gear and standard tundra tires make the Trail suitable for off-airport excursions. A belly pod is available for extra utility.

After a fun day of flying, one person can fold the wings in less than five minutes without draining the fuel. This makes it easy to share a hangar, push the Trail into a barn, or trailer it home.

The Trail is at AirVenture in the North Display Area, Booth #642. Additional information is also available at www.lonepalmaero.com, or call 858-386-4295. Email is [email protected].
