One Week Wonder – Day 3–Going in All Directions

0

Lots of progress was made on the One Week Wonder, AirVenture’s attempt to build an RV-12iS up to taxiing status in 6.5 days. The cabin is nearing completion with the brake and fuel systems installed, the spar pass-through completed, and control systems set up.

Great progress was made on the tail cone and the stabilizer spar box was started and moved along. Lots of “walk-ups” pulled rivets on a wing and volunteers made various miscellaneous pieces. Sure, there were bad rivets and incorrect nut plates that needed replacing, but who hasn’t had those problems in a home shop? It’s been a remarkable effort by the Van’s crew with a little help from hundreds of fans.
