Falken Avionics came to EAA AirVenture 2025 with a full slate of new products aimed at providing a complete and affordable ecosystem for Experimental/Amateur-Built and Light Sport Aircraft. From a new mini-EFIS to a power distribution box and significant software updates, the company is clearly expanding its footprint in the homebuilt avionics space. The centerpiece of the new lineup is the Astra Mini EFIS. Priced at $2500, this compact unit is designed to serve as either a primary flight display in a smaller aircraft or as a capable backup in a more complex panel. The Astra features a bright, square 720×720-pixel touchscreen and provides a full primary flight display (PFD) with synthetic vision, a moving map (MFD), and an engine monitoring display (EMS)—the latter requires the separate Falken EMS module. It can also remotely control a variety of com radios, transponders, and autopilots. Notably, the unit does not fit a standard 3.125-inch instrument hole.

Supporting the new EFIS is a range of new hardware. The FlightBox v3 is the next generation of Falken’s popular portable ADS-B receiver. For $499 ($399 for pre-orders through August 31), it offers dual-band ADS-B, a WAAS GPS, AHRS for attitude data, a cabin altitude sensor, and a carbon monoxide detector—all powered by a five-hour internal battery or ship’s power. For builders looking to simplify their wiring, the new BusBox Power Center ($450) offers a 30-circuit power management system that uses easy-to-wire lever terminals instead of traditional ring or tab connectors. Falken also introduced a new magnetometer ($299) and an ARINC 429 adapter ($499) to integrate certified navigators with its systems.

The hardware is backed by significant updates to the FlightView software that powers the Astra and the company’s iPad app. The system now features synthetic vision and a 3D traffic display, projecting targets onto the PFD. Engine integration has been expanded with CAN bus support for modern ULPower and Rotax iS series engines, allowing data to be read directly from the ECU. Finally, for those using a Vertical Power VP-X system, FlightView can now integrate with it to monitor amperage, toggle circuits, and reset breakers directly from the screen.
