Postcards From AirVenture

It’s a beehive of aviation activity at Oshkosh. With so many things to see, there is danger of sensory overload, but for the enthusiasts who flock here annually, that’s just fine. They walk around with totes and backpacks filled with information packets and parts from the Aeromart. And when the legs get tired, they lay down on the grass and look to the skies. There is always something going on up there.

“There must be an airport around here somewhere!”

Roger Thompson of Springfield, Illinois models what the well-dressed Pitts pilot wears to Air Venture: one S-2A, a huge backpack and some Softie duffles. Roger had just tied down and was headed for several days tenting it in Camp Scholler when we crossed paths.
