Not Bent, We Checked

The Sling Island tent has been displaying their latest two-seater all week… the Whisper version of the venerable Sling LSA trainer. Sling Academy in Torrance, CA has been under a lot of pressure (along with other schools on the field) to reduce noise, even though their airplanes are already remarkably quiet. But the Whisper features a new and radical prop design from Craig Catto – one with a pretty interesting kink in the end of the blades.

Reports from Sling are that this prop is measurably quieter, but we didn’t get the full explanation as to why. Catto is a talented prop designer, and we’ll ask him for the explanation when we get a chance. In the meantime, we’re sure that if nothing else, te Whisper prop will draw attention!
