The immediate news from ULPower is they’ve made TBO and warranty upgrades to their existing engines. Most generally, all naturally aspirated engines have been raised to a 2000 hour or 12 year Time Between Overhaul.
One of the turbo engines—the UL520T—has had its TBO raised to 1500 hours or 12 years, plus its warranty is bumped up to two years.
Less immediate is ULPower is working on a new engine which we might see more of in 2027 but is more likely to arrive fully ready for sale in 2028. Driven by the desire to offer a direct drive, 2700 rpm engine compatible with the propellers common in general aviation ULPower is looking towards a longer stroke, slightly larger displacement 4-cylinder. It will have a slightly increased bore spacing but remain within an inch or two of current UL Power sizing.
Power target for the new design is 130 hp at 2700 rpm and interestingly UL Power says they’re aiming at FAA certification.
