Do not use Teflon tape on any fuel system connection. It can deteriorate and leave particles and remnants, which can clog the fuel system, potentially causing complete loss of engine power.
In Case You Missed It
To Launch a Light Sport
Once he decided on a kit, builder Bob Fritz went full-speed ahead on the project and has made remarkable progress in a short time. He’s nearly ready to start making airplane noises.
Lancair Love Story
Few homebuilders forget the first airplane they constructed, even if they go on to do others. That was the case with Mike Maxwell, who had pretty much given up on ever seeing his Lancair 235 again. But life is nothing if not full of surprises, and Mike was in for a big one.

Hi Vic,
What,if anything, should be used on a fuel connection like shown above? Thanks, Bryce
Teflon thread sealant.
Thank you 👍🏻👍🏻
Well there’s also the yellow teflon tape that says it’s for gas. I’ve used it and never had a problem. You always show a picture of it in a worst case example. I wrap it about 2 threads back from the end so none of it is exposed to the tank contents and any fraying is only on the outside. The misuse of it by those who do sloppy jobs applying it don’t apply to every use.
The downside of even properly installed Teflon tape comes when the part is disassembled. Little shreds of tape remain in the threads and require very careful removal before reassembly. Ultimately, properly applied paste is safer in the long run. Improperly applied anything can be dangerous, of course.
